A community-based Asia-Pacific community of teachers, journalists and activists has now gone online with an umbrella website for its publications, present affairs and analysis.
The nonprofit Asia Pacific Media Community, publishers of Pacific Journalism Review analysis journal, has till now relied on its Facebook page.
“The APMN is addressing a niche within the area for impartial media commentary and offering a community for journalists and teachers,” stated director Dr Heather Devere.
“Our community goals to guard the free dissemination of knowledge that may problem political elites, exposing discrimination and corruption, in addition to analysing extra conventional media shops.”
Pacific Journalism Assessment editor Dr Philip Cass stated: “For 30 years, PJR has been the one journal focusing solely on media and journalism within the Pacific area.”
APMN has members in Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Indonesia and the Philippines and has hyperlinks to the Manila-based AMIC, Asia-Pacific’s largest communication analysis centre.
Deputy director and founding editor of PJR, Dr David Robie, was awarded the 2015 AMIC Asia Communication Award for his companies to schooling, analysis, establishment constructing and journalism.
Convention companion
The brand new web site publishes information, newsletters, submissions, and analysis, and the community is a companion within the forthcoming international Pacific Media Conference being hosted by the College of the South Pacific on July 4-6.
APMN can be a companion with Auckland’s Mount Roskill-based Whānau Community Centre and Hub.
Lots of the crew concerned had been a core group in AUT’s Pacific Media Centre which closed on the finish of 2020.
